Our team planning and discussing solutions for the chassis and suspension system.

On October 30, 2025, the Seagull Solar Car team met at McKee High School to make important decisions about our suspension system and continue work on the chassis. There, we finalized our approach to building a custom suspension and completed the front of our chassis.

After much planning and considering different people’s approaches to the problem, the team decided to move forward with designing a custom suspension rather than trying to adapt what we currently have. The design features A-arms that are separated by a distance equal to the height of the chassis. This configuration uses a custom-made mount that serves double duty, both spacing the A-arms and mounting the knuckle. We’re looking at using custom plasma cut components to bring this design to life.

With the suspension design direction settled, we turned our attention to finishing up the front of the chassis. Using a reciprocating saw with metal blades, we completed a rectangular front section made from 3/4 inch OD mild steel tubes that were mitered and welded together for a clean, strong structure. Currently, the top A-arms of the suspension are disconnected from the assembly as we prepare for these modifications.

Beyond the technical work, the team also spent time writing handwritten thank you notes to Pourmania for their support of our project. Taking the time to personally thank our supporters is important to us and shows our appreciation for everyone who helps make this solar car possible.

Every meeting brings us closer to having a fully functional, competition-ready solar car. We’re excited about this new suspension design and can’t wait to see it come together!
