Today Wednesday October 19th we welcomed 5 new students fro Staten Island Tech to be part of the ONLY Solar Car (STEM ) project in New York City school system.

The team is preparing for the upcoming competition in Dallas/Ft Worth Texas in July, with 3 different high schools on board this is a great team with much enthusiasm.
Our Solar Car is on its way to Texas to meet the team on Friday afternoon, this is our 7th year in this competition. The team will give it their best shot to bring home a trophy for New York City. We will leave on July 14th and return July 23rd, great students, great team.
We are proud to say that the Staten Island Solar Car Team has placed 3rd place in the 2017 Solar Car Challenge this past week of July 17-23, 2017. It is a good feeling to bring home a trophy for New York City.
We are in the process of building a new Solar Car to prepare for next July's Solar Car Challenge competition from Dallas/Ft Worth Texas to San Jose California.
We the Green Technology Club are very proud to receive the Staten Islands Children's Museum "Circle of Friends Award" on November 15th at the Hilton Hotel.
Continuing efforts to prepare for the 2018 Solar Car Challenge is presently underway, today June 6th we were displaying our Solar Car at the United Nations and it was a big hit with the people who were at the UN Green Fair.
The team is preparing to go on July 13th to the Solar Car Challenge to compete in a cross-country competition to California.
Currently we are at the rest stop in El Paso, and are in third place. Good effort is being put in to constantly improve the car as we race, so we're hoping to rank 2nd this year.
The 2018 Solar Car Challenge competition was a tough run for the team we did end up clinching a second place finish at the end of the race on Monday July 23, this team has made me very proud to part of this great experience. Our future plans are to build another car and consider going to the World Solar Challenge in Australia in October 2019.
