About UsWe are the Green Technology Club. We proudly represent the first Solar Car team from New York City and one of the only three teams in New York State to participate in the Solar Car Challenge. Our goal is to develop and build solar cars that can participate in not only the Solar Car Challenge, but the World Solar Challenge as well.
Although this goal seems to be unachievable for high school students, with the right mind set and commitment, anything is possible. Thankfully, we have many wonderful sponsors who have helped us as well. Click the Sponsors tab on the menu for a list of their contributions and how they helped us. COMMUNITY OUTREACH The Green Tech/Solar Car Team sets its goals beyond winning races. The team is dedicated to community outreach, especially to K-12 students. Each year, members of the Green Tech/Solar Car Team gives presentations to elementary, middle, and high school students. Our goal is to inspire these students to pursue careers in science, engineering. and hands on education. The students also participate in community events such as the New York Auto Show, Clean and Green show, at the Staten Island Children's Museum and other various shows on Staten Island to promote alternative energy. By displaying our solar car (High Energy #5) and talking about our team participation in solar car racing, we hope to encourage discussion about sustainability and technology in our community. We believe that clean, renewable energy will play a major part of our country's future. The solar car team wishes to thank all of our supporters, friends and family members. |
